Over 700 liters of substandard milk destroyed in Quetta raids

Large quantity of yogurt and milk disposed of in Quetta

QUETTA: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) is taking strong action to stop the sale of unclean milk and yogurt in the city.

Teams from the BFA recently checked many milk shops and delivery trucks in several areas, including Toghi Road, Hazara Town, Kuchlak Bazaar, and Baleli.

During these inspections, they found many items that were not safe for people to consume. Officials took samples of milk and yogurt for testing. They immediately destroyed 240 liters of milk and 480 kilograms of yogurt that were found to be adulterated, or mixed with harmful substances.

Two shops were sealed shut for breaking the rules. Twelve people, including sellers and a supplier, were made to pay large fines and were warned that they could face even stricter punishment.

Provincial Food Minister, Haji Noor Muhammad Dummar, said that the government will absolutely not compromise on public health. He stated that they have a “zero-tolerance” policy against what he called the “adulteration mafia.” He also confirmed that this quality-check campaign has been expanded to other districts across Balochistan.
