ECNEC approves 103 km Zhob–Mukhtar-Barsta–Murgha Kabza road project

QUETTA: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the construction of a 103-kilometer road from Zhob to Mukhtar Barsta Murgha Kabza and a 105-kilometer road from Duki to Chamalang, along with the revised Balochistan Livelihood and Internship Project.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar chaired the meeting through a video link. Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, ECNEC members, and Balochistan’s Provincial Minister for Irrigation Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani also attended.

The participants reviewed the progress, expenditures, and challenges of various new and ongoing national-level projects in the federally administered provinces.

Zhob–Mukhtar-Barsta–Murgha Kabza road

Officials briefed the committee on the significance and impact of the Balochistan-focused project “Access and Distribution of Quality Education.” The project includes four main components — Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Public-Private Partnership, and Emergency Section.

They highlighted that this five-year project aims to provide quality education to children in Balochistan, expand learning opportunities for young students, and raise the province’s literacy rate.

ECNEC members emphasized completing the approved projects on time and maintaining high construction and implementation standards.

Earlier today, the Balochistan Health Department has taken over a semi-government children’s hospital in Quetta following approval from the provincial government.

According to the department, Chief Executive Officer of the Children’s Hospital, Professor Abdullah Jaffar, formally handed over charge to Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Quetta, Dr. Saleem Abro.
