RAHIM YAR KHAN: President Asif Ali Zardari stated on Saturday, that he endured 14 years of imprisonment with courage, drawing strength from the unwavering support of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers. He made these remarks while addressing party leaders and workers in Rahim Yar Khan, where he also engaged with the local leadership and former ticket holders from South Punjab.
During his address, President Zardari reiterated his commitment to steering the country towards economic recovery and reinforcing national unity. He emphasized that the PPP remains steadfast in its ideological heritage and will continue its mission of public service. Highlighting the cultural bonds between regions, he noted that the cultures of Sindh and South Punjab are characterized by unity and brotherhood.
Reflecting on his prolonged imprisonment, the President credited party workers for their encouragement during trying times. He attributed the current economic difficulties and inflation to the mismanagement of the previous government but expressed confidence in the current Prime Minister’s serious efforts to stabilize the economy.
On the national security front, President Zardari addressed border tensions and the activities of “enemy forces,” taking the opportunity to criticize the Indian Prime Minister. He paid tribute to the security forces for their sacrifices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, asserting that the armed forces have always defended the homeland with courage and determination.
The President also called for agricultural development, stressing the need to provide modern facilities to farmers to ensure food security and national progress.
Earlier, upon his arrival in Rahim Yar Khan, President Zardari was welcomed by Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, who affirmed that the party workers remain committed to the party’s ideology and principles. The event was attended by the Governor of Punjab, members of the provincial assembly, and other local leaders.
