Husband kills his wife over second marriage dispute

QUETTA: A horrible incident took place in provincial capital of Baluchistan whereas, when a husband kills his wife on second marriage dispute.

In Balochistan news updates, it is disclosed that a husband brutally killed his wife on account of now allowing him to get married with another woman.

The husband, after carrying out the murder, tried to bury the woman in a hurry.

However, the police team immediately arrived there and arrested the man.

The matter of murder rose sorrow in the entire town leaving every eye in tears.

The police have started the investigation from the captured person.

Initial investigation suggest that the husband wanted to marry another woman and he stressed her to allow him to do so.

However, his wife showed resistance and did not permit him for second marriage.

The man was reported to have tortured his wife on numerous occasions and eventually, he killed her.

The police team says that strict investigation will be carried out in this regard and the justice will be served.

It is worth mentioning incidents of women killing in Balochistan have unfortunately grown in number in the past many years.

Thousands of women have been brutally killed in several such incidents.

A widely reported case involved a young couple, Bano Bibi and Ehsan Ullah, who were shot dead after a tribal jirga declared them guilty of marrying without family consent.

A video of the killings went viral. Police have arrested more than a dozen suspects, including a tribal elder and the woman’s cousin.

The Balochistan High Court took notice, ordered exhumation of the woman’s body for forensic tests, and summoned senior officials.

In Mastung district, another couple—married for seven years—was killed, allegedly by the woman’s brothers, who lured them into a meeting under the pretext of reconciliation.

The Balochistan assembly, Pakistan’s Senate, and the National Commission on the Status of Women have all condemned these incidents and demanded strict action.

Despite existing laws against honour killings, activists say enforcement remains weak and many cases go unreported.
