Widespread electricity theft uncovered in Quetta, QESCO electric Reports

MASTUNG: The Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), the electricity distribution company, has reported a crucial surge in electricity theft in several regions of Balochistan, particularly in Quetta, Mastung, and Sibbi.

In this regard, 59 illegal connections were disconnected in Quetta, alongside 148 electricity meters that were being used unlawfully. In Mastung, 19 illegal connections were severed under the jurisdiction of the 11kV feeder.

The spokesperson added that electricity theft not only causes financial losses but also disrupts the power supply to honest consumers. All cases of electricity theft have been documented, and reports have been submitted to the relevant law enforcement agencies for legal action.

QESCO electric has also confirmed that FIRs are being lodged against the perpetrators involved in power theft. The company has focused on that such illegal activities not only violate national laws but also undermine the country’s energy infrastructure and economic stability. In this regard, QESCO has called upon the public to report any suspicious activity related to power theft and assured that identities of informants will be kept confidential.

Meanwhile, the legal proceedings are underway against those found guilty, and the company has pledged to continue its crackdown operations with the support of law enforcement agencies.
