Weather department forecasts intense cold

ISLAMABAD: Weather Department has issued a warning for severe cold weather in various parts of the country, including Karachi, advising citizens to take necessary precautions.

According to the department, cold conditions in Karachi are expected to intensify over the coming days, with temperatures likely to remain below normal.

The forecast indicates that most regions of the country will experience cold and dry weather today, though northern and mountainous areas will feel particularly harsh cold during morning and night hours.

Chilly winds in higher elevations could further amplify the cold.

Fog is anticipated to persist in the plains of Punjab, upper Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, potentially reducing visibility.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to remain extremely cold, with partly cloudy skies.

In Islamabad, Murree, and the Galiyat region, dry and intensely cold weather is predicted. Several cities in Punjab, including Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Multan, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Shorkot, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan are likely to see foggy conditions.

Similarly, cold and dry weather is forecasted for most districts in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.

Cities in Sindh such as Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shahdadkot (formerly Shahid Benazirabad), and Mohenjo-Daro, along with Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, and D.I. Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, may also experience fog.

The Meteorological Department has urged residents to adopt safety measures against the cold and fog, avoid unnecessary travel, and ensure warm clothing, especially during early morning and evening hours.
