Weather Alert: Heavy rains expected in various regions

ISLAMABAD: Heavy rainfall is expected tonight in several districts of Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Balochistan, which may lead to flooding in streams and drains.

According to the Meteorological Department, torrential rains may cause flooding in local and seasonal streams in Murree, Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi,

D.G. Khan, northeastern Punjab, Balochistan, and Kashmir.

Due to intense rainfall, landslides may occur in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, which could disrupt transportation.

Low-lying areas in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, and Peshawar are at risk of urban flooding. Citizens are advised to exercise caution.

Strong winds may damage weak infrastructure such as electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels.

In most districts of Punjab, hot and humid weather is expected during the day. However, at night, rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds is likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Khushab, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G. Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu, and Layyah.

In D.G. Khan and surrounding areas, heavy rainfall may occur at a few locations.

On Monday, the weather will remain partly cloudy in most areas, while rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds is likely at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G. Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu, and Layyah.

During this period, heavy rains may also occur in parts of northeastern Punjab, Pothohar region, D.G. Khan, and nearby areas.
