QUETTA: Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti on Wednesday ordered immediate water supply to the port city Gwadar from Mirani Dam through tankers.
As per details, Sarfaraz Bugti chaired a high-level meeting to address the worsening water crisis in Gwadar.
The meeting was attended by MPA Gwadar Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, Secretary PHE Hashim Ghalzai, Coordinator for Water and Chairman Gwadar Port Authority Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, DG Gwadar Development Authority Moeen-ur-Rehman Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Dr. Abdul Shakoor Khan, and other senior officials.
CM Bugti directed authorities to begin water supply from today and assigned Coordinator for Water and GPA Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch to oversee the entire operation. He stressed that transparency must be ensured in tanker supply, warning that the corruption witnessed in past distribution systems would not be tolerated.
The meeting decided that until Shadi Kaur Dam, GPA’s desalination plant, and the sensor boring system start operating at full capacity, Gwadar residents will receive water through tankers.
Sarfaraz Bugti expressed dissatisfaction over Gwadar not receiving its required share from Shadi Kaur Dam and instructed immediate remedial measures. He also directed the Gwadar district administration to take urgent steps to prevent the theft of equipment from Shadi Kaur’s water supply line.
The Chief Minister emphasised that Gwadar must receive emergency water supplies without delay to avert any worsening of the crisis. He tasked GPA and GDA leadership to ensure a corruption-free, transparent system of water distribution.
