DUBAI: New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has surged to the top of the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings with a career-best rating of 845 points, displacing India’s Virat Kohli, who now sits in second place with 795 points.
Mitchell’s rise follows his exceptional performance in the recent three-match ODI series against India, which New Zealand won 2-1 to secure their first-ever ODI series victory on Indian soil.
He amassed 352 runs in the series, including centuries of 131 not out and 137, earning him the Player of the Series award.
Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran holds third position with 764 points, while India’s Rohit Sharma has slipped to fourth at 757 points.
Shubman Gill rounds out the top five for India with 723 points, followed closely by Pakistan’s Babar Azam in sixth place on 722 points.
Ireland’s Harry Tector occupies seventh with 708 points, West Indies’ Shai Hope is eighth at 701, Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka ninth with 690, and India’s KL Rahul completes the top 10 with 670 points.
This latest update highlights Mitchell’s remarkable consistency and adaptability, marking his second stint at No. 1 in the ODI batting rankings after a brief spell last year.
