NOKUNDI: A tragic road accident near Nokundi in Balochistan’s Chagai district on Thursday claimed the lives of at least two Afghan nationals and left four others seriously injured. The incident occurred when a Toyota vehicle overturned following a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control on the remote highway.
According to police, the accident resulted in the immediate death of two passengers. Upon receiving information, Station House Officer (SHO) Nokundi Abdul Sattar Mohammad Hasni promptly arrived at the site with a team and initiated rescue operations. The injured and deceased were quickly shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Nokundi, where the wounded received urgent first aid.
Police officials confirmed that all individuals involved in the accident were Afghan nationals. An investigation into the precise circumstances of the crash is currently underway. Authorities have pointed to the sudden tyre failure as the primary cause and have issued a renewed warning to all motorists.
The accident highlights the severe risks of travel in remote regions. Police urged drivers to rigorously check their vehicle’s condition, especially tyre health, before embarking on long journeys.
