US VP Vance, Kushner & Iran’s Araqchi, Qalibaf to arrive in Islamabad today

ISLAMABAD : US Vice President JD Vance will arrive in Pakistan tonight to lead a high-level American delegation for talks with Iranian officials, according to diplomatic sources.

Sources said that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, senior advisers to President Donald Trump, will also arrive in Pakistan today to join the US Vice President for negotiations with the Iranian delegation. A 23-member advance team of the US delegation, including security experts and support staff, has already reached Islamabad to facilitate the visit.

White House spokesperson Caroline Lute had earlier confirmed that President Trump is sending his negotiating team to Islamabad for talks with Iran. “The negotiating team will include JD Vance, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner,” she said, adding that the talks will be held in Islamabad on Saturday morning.

On the other side, Iranian Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi will also arrive in the Pakistani capital late tonight, sources said. Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga has informed the Pakistani Prime Minister that an Iranian delegation will come to Islamabad for the talks.

The simultaneous arrival of top US and Iranian officials in Islamabad underscores Pakistan’s growing role as a diplomatic hub for addressing regional tensions. No further details about the agenda of Saturday’s talks have been disclosed yet.
