SIALKOT: In a startling revelation that has sent shockwaves through the cricketing community, Pakistani leg-spinner Usama Mir has publicly come forward to allege fraud against a businessman, revealing that he has lost a substantial amount of money in an investment scheme that also ensnared several other leading national cricketers.
In an exclusive conversation with Geo News, the Sialkot-born cricketer detailed the financial deceit he suffered at the hands of an individual identified as Abdul Rehman. Mir, who has represented Pakistan in international cricket, announced his firm intention to pursue legal action against the suspect upon his return to his hometown.
“I will knock on every door for legal action,” Mir stated emphatically. “This person has committed fraud and deceit. I will go to every level for legal action, and I hope the relevant institutions will also cooperate.”
The leg-spinner disclosed that he invested a total of 800,000 dirhams with the accused, based on an agreement promising profitable returns. However, the agreement was never honored. “Neither was the profit received, nor was the money returned,” Usama Mir revealed.
To substantiate his claim, Mir stated that he possesses all the relevant documentation, including a paper trail and an exchange of messages with the accused. He further alleged that when he pressed for the return of his capital, Abdul Rehman provided documents of plots as a guarantee. “But that too turned out to be a fraud,” Mir added, expressing his dismay at the level of deceit.
The cricketer described a pattern of broken promises and eventual silence from the accused. “Promises were made repeatedly, but now there is no contact. His associates have also been lying after lying,” he said.
Sources familiar with the matter suggest that the scope of the alleged fraud is vast, with the owner of the company cheating players out of crores of rupees by luring them into partnership deals. While many leading Pakistani cricketers are reportedly involved as victims, Usama Mir is the only one who has so far come forward publicly
