WASHINGTON: Heavy use of advanced and costly weapons by the United States during the early days of the conflict with Iran has been reported.
According to a report published by the The Washington Post, citing American officials, nearly $5.6 billion worth of weapons and ammunition were used by the United States Department of Defense during the first two days of the war.
The report said the figures indicate that large quantities of advanced military hardware were deployed by the US military in a very short period of time.
Concerns have also been raised among some members of the United States Congress. Lawmakers were said to be worried that highly sophisticated weapons with limited stockpiles are being consumed rapidly.
Days earlier, Donald Trump had claimed that the United States possesses an unlimited supply of key war weapons.
Meanwhile, the United States Central Command said that about 5,000 targets have been struck in Iran so far.
