US Prepares for Possible Airstrikes against Iran

WASHINGTON:  Preparations for major US airstrikes against Iran appear to be underway as increased activity of American fighter jets has been observed at a US air base in Qatar.

According to Arab media reports, the Al Udeid Air Base, located approximately 200 kilometers from the Iranian border, has seen unusual movement of military aircraft, raising strong speculation that the United States may be planning aerial operations against Iran.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Defense Minister has issued a warning, stating that any act of aggression against the country would be met with a response that would exceed expectations.

Iran’s Army Chief, Major General Hatami, said the armed forces are fully alert and prepared to defend the nation’s borders.

He also stressed that economic authorities must accelerate public welfare initiatives.

Iranian officials have claimed that foreign elements are involved in violence and killings during recent protests, adding that more than 400 security personnel have been killed.

Iranian media reported that no anti-government protests were recorded on the current day, although public dissatisfaction over economic conditions persists.

Separately, a US newspaper has claimed that former President Donald Trump is determined to carry out strikes on Iran, opting to attack first and negotiate later.

In a recent statement, Trump addressed Iranian protesters, urging them to be prepared as support was “on the way,” and encouraging them to take control of key government institutions.

He also announced the cancellation of talks with Iranian authorities.

According to news agencies, Trump is expected to address the American public before any potential military action.

The newspaper report further suggested that the United States could target Iran’s political and military leadership.
