WASHINGTON : The United States has reportedly conveyed a 15-point plan to Iran through Pakistani intermediaries, according to media reports citing unnamed sources, though the details remain unconfirmed.
The reports, carried by The New York Times, Reuters, and Israel’s Channel 12, come after Pakistan recently offered to host peace talks between Washington and Tehran. The BBC has not seen the document and is attempting to verify the claims.
Citing anonymous sources, Channel 12 outlined elements of the purported U.S. proposal, which includes a demand that Iran keep the Strait of Hormuz open as a free shipping route. In exchange, the report said, Iran would receive certain concessions, including the easing of sanctions.
The White House has not publicly commented on the reported plan. The BBC has requested clarification from U.S. officials and says it will provide further details as they become available.
The development, if confirmed, would mark a significant diplomatic step following months of heightened tensions between the two countries. Pakistan’s role as a potential intermediary has drawn attention, though officials in Islamabad have yet to issue a statement on the matter.
