A senior US official has made strong statements about India’s trade and foreign policy, predicting the country will soon change its stance.

US Commerce Secretary Howard Latnick claimed that India will be forced to apologize to the US and agree to a new trade deal within the next “month or two.” He stated that India would not be able to withstand pressure from Washington for long.

Latnick warned that if India does not change its policies, the US could impose high tariffs of up to 50% on Indian exports. He specifically criticized India for continuing to buy large amounts of Russian oil, suggesting New Delhi is only doing so to make a huge profit because the oil is cheap due to Western sanctions.

He also criticized India’s involvement with the BRICS group, which includes US rivals like Russia and China. Latnick dismissed India’s current tough stance as “just for show” and predicted that Indian business leaders would soon pressure their government to make a deal with the US.
