US can play key role in restoring peace in South Asia: Rizwan Saeed Sheikh

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said that US President Donald Trump can play a vital role in bringing the peace in South Asia, as he calls himself a peacemaker around the world.

While giving an interview to an American TV, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said that the India’s aggressive behaviour are putting the region at risk of nuclear clash between the two countries of South Asia.

Ambassador further said that both the countries have capabilities of nuclear weapons and this is the only nuclear flashpoint, in the world,

He claimed that if a war breaks out in the region, the whole world will be affected and can the consequences of nuclear arms. whenever such a situation happened earlier, the international community would come forward, this is also an opportunity to solve the problem of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan’s Ambassador reminded.

He added that the Pakistan leadership offered a transparent investigation into the Pahalgam attack but still waiting for the Indian response in this regard.

He blamed the Indian government for making accusations without evidence and running away from the investigation is proof of India’s lies.

Earlier, Pakistan’s future representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, says that the current situation is the result of Indian actions after the Pahalgam incident and he termed the Indian occupied Kashmir as a nuclear flashpoint.

During a press briefing in Washington, Asim Iftikhar said that India tried to change the population ratio in Occupied Kashmir on August 5, 2019. It violated the Security Council resolutions and the Geneva Convention. The reason for the current situation is also the same Indian actions.

Asim Iftikhar said that we have invited the UN Secretary-General to visit, everyone knows this, Pakistan is a responsible country and expects responsibility from India too.
