QUETTA: The Counter Terrorism Deportment of Balochistan has arrested a lecturer of University of Turbat for links with the terrorists organizations, a senior counterterrorism official said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference in Quetta, DIG CTD Iftikhar Ahmed Goraya said that the arrested lecturer identified as Sajid, is a member of a banned organisation, had completed a master’s degree in Sociology from the Islamic International University, Islamabad.
The DIG CTD said that Sajid worked as an operative of the banned Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF).
He said that Sajid monitored urban areas and marked sensitive locations using Google Earth and then shared the information with a commander based in a neighbouring country.
Investigators recovered digital evidence from the suspect’s mobile phone. The data showed he arranged the transport of sabotage material using vehicles involved in Iranian petrol smuggling, the CTD official said.
Authorities said the findings point to an organized network using smuggling routes to move explosives and logistical supplies for militant activities.
The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are expected, officials added.
This is a developing story…..
