Uncontrolled Inflation in Quetta as Profiteers Take Over

Quetta: In the provincial capital of Balochistan, Quetta, profiteers have tightened their grip. Shopkeepers are now charging customers excessive prices for all essential items.

Price control committees have become inactive, and everything has gone beyond the purchasing power of the poor.

According to details, in areas such as Sariab Road, Eastern Bypass, Kharotabad, Pashtunabad, Jinnah Road, Labour Colony 1 and 2, Nawan Killi, and nearby localities, shopkeepers are demanding unreasonably high prices for groceries, fruits, vegetables, meat, and even vehicle and motorcycle spare parts.

Disputes between customers and shopkeepers over prices have become a common sight. Those who demand fair pricing are often scolded by the vendors.

Price control committees exist in name only. Citizens have urged the local administration to regulate prices and ensure that shopkeepers are bound to display official price lists in their stores.
