UNITED NATIONS : United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned Tuesday’s deadly suicide attack in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, which resulted in significant civilian casualties. Through a spokesperson, the UN chief expressed his profound sadness over the attack and called for the perpetrators to be swiftly brought to justice.
The condemnation was delivered by Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Aziz Haq during the regular noon briefing at UN Headquarters in New York. “The Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the reported suicide attack, and he extends his condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a full recovery to those injured,” Haq stated in response to a question about the incident.
The attack targeted the District and Sessions Court building in Islamabad’s G-11 sector, a bustling area of the city. The powerful explosion, caused by a suicide bomber, killed at least 12 people and injured 36 others, according to initial reports. The blast caused panic and resulted in a severe emergency response operation, with victims rushed to nearby hospitals.
Reiterating the UN’s firm stance against terrorism, the spokesperson affirmed that the Secretary-General “condemns acts of violence and terrorism in the strongest terms.” The statement underscored a fundamental principle of international law and the UN’s counter-terrorism efforts, reiterating that “all perpetrators of terrorism must be held accountable.”
In light of the attack, Secretary-General Guterres has called for a full and comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances of the bombing and identify those responsible. The attack has drawn widespread national and international condemnation, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the region and the tragic targeting of judicial institutions and civilians.

The social media outlets influenced by the TTP and Fitna al Khawarij groups had already shared some hostile and provocative slogans on the posts.
The Fitna al Khawarij aligned with the Indian-sponsored militancy are seen as a strong suspect for their involvement behind the militant-attack launched in front of the Judicial Complex G-11 Islamabad.
The attack was carried out at 12:45 PM however, the Afghan social media links aligned with the militant groups posted some provocative slogans like hoisting Afghan flag in Lahore and burning Islamabad.
