PSL expanded to 8 teams with addition of two new teams

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially expanded with the inclusion of two new franchises, Hyderabad and Sialkot.

The Hyderabad team was acquired by FKS Group for Rs 1.75 billion, while Ozzi Developers secured the Sialkot franchise for Rs 1.85 billion.

The auction process for the new teams was held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad.

Following the withdrawal of Ali Tareen, nine parties participated in the bidding. FKS Group successfully purchased the seventh PSL team and selected Hyderabad as its home city.

Speaking on the occasion, Hyderabad team owner Fawad Sarwar stated that he grew up in Hyderabad and had a strong desire to bring a PSL team to the city.

For the eighth franchise, intense competition was witnessed during the bidding, eventually won by Ozzi Developers, who chose Sialkot as the team’s home base.

Collectively, the seventh and eighth PSL teams were sold for a total of Rs 3.6 billion.

With the addition of Hyderabad and Sialkot, the total number of teams in the Pakistan Super League has now increased to eight.

The auction ceremony was broadcast live by Pakistan’s first dedicated sports channel, Geo Super. PSL Season 11 is scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3, 2026.
