Two More Overseas Players Withdraw from PSL 11

KARACHI: Several foreign players have withdrawn from the upcoming 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, dealing a setback to multiple franchises ahead of the tournament.

Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka has pulled out of the league. Lahore Qalandars confirmed they will replace him with Australia’s Daniel Sams.

The franchise said Sams will strengthen both batting and bowling departments. He has previously represented Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi and brings experience from global leagues.

Reports said Shanaka withdrew after being signed by Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for injured England all-rounder Sam Curran in the Indian Premier League.

Australia’s aggressive batter Jake Fraser-McGurk has also opted out of PSL 11 due to personal commitments. Rawalpindi Raiders have yet to announce his replacement.

Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi have signed Bangladesh’s emerging opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim for the season. He will make his PSL debut. Sources said the player has received a no-objection certificate, though his availability may be limited.

The tournament will begin on March 26 and feature eight teams. The PCB has announced that all matches will be held in Karachi and Lahore without spectators due to the prevailing situation.
