Gas Leak Triggers Blaze at Chinese Ceramics Factory, Injuring Eight

WEB DESK: A significant fire erupted at the Chinese Ceramics Factory located within Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Industrial Estate onWednesday , resulting in injuries to eight individuals, including two Chinese nationals. The incident occurred due to a gas leak during repair work on a factory furnace, according to initial reports.

Rescue teams from Rescue 1122 responded swiftly to the emergency. The injured were identified as Chinese nationals Shi Shong and Liu Long, alongside six local workers: Ikram-ul-Haq, Samar Abbas, Sajid Ghani, Javed, Amanullah, and Muhammad Naeem. All victims sustained burn injuries. First aid was administered at the scene before the injured were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.

Firefighting crews worked diligently to contain the intense blaze. Officials confirmed that the fire has now been brought under control, but cooling operations are still ongoing to prevent any potential re-ignition and ensure the site is fully safe. The cause has been preliminarily attributed to a hazardous gas leak that ignited during maintenance activities on one of the plant’s industrial furnaces.

The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns within industrial zones, particularly in facilities involving high-temperature processes and flammable materials. An investigation into the precise circumstances leading to the leak and the subsequent fire is expected to be launched to determine any lapses in safety protocol.
