Two arrested in Quetta for blackmailing woman with explicit videos

QUETTA: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has uncovered a blackmailing scandal in Quetta involving obscene videos, officials said Friday.

Acting on a woman’s complaint, investigators arrested two suspects accused of sharing her explicit videos on WhatsApp and using them to blackmail her father and fiancé.

Agency spokespersons confirmed the arrest of prime suspect Rana Muhammad Moazzam and his accomplice Hamdullah. Authorities seized their mobile phones and digital records, which have been sent to a forensic lab for analysis.

Police registered a case under Sections 21 and 24 of the Cyber Crime Act 2016, along with Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Court officials said both suspects have been remanded in custody as investigators pursue further leads.

Earlier today, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) announced on Friday that its Gwadar Composite Circle thwarted an attempt to illegally cross into Iran by sea.

According to FIA Headquarters Islamabad, the operation led to the arrest of 29 individuals, including an Iranian national, from the coastal area of Jiwani in Balochistan.

The detainees belong to various cities across Pakistan, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. Six are from Bannu, five from Malakand, four each from Faisalabad, Multan, and Khanewal, while others hail from Buner, Hafizabad, Waziristan, Wazirabad, and Karachi.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspects planned to travel beyond Iran to other countries through illegal channels.
