TURBAT: The Kech Traders Association has announced the end of its indefinite shutter-down strike following assurances from IG FC Balochistan South, Major General Bilal Sarfraz Khan, regarding the law-and-order situation.
The strike was originally launched in protest against rising crime and insecurity in the region. Full shutter-down was observed on May 15 and 16. However, considering public inconvenience and the commitment from security forces, the strike was officially called off on Friday.
The association’s spokesperson thanked shopkeepers for their support and instructed them to resume business on Saturday, May 17.
It is worth noting that the growing incidents of crime and lawlessness in these areas have left the public feeling deeply insecure, while the business community has also been severely affected. Traders say that due to the uncertain security situation, running a business has become nearly impossible, and even covering basic expenses is now a struggle.
