QUETTA: New evidence has emerged exposing a fake missing persons campaign in Balochistan.

Individuals recently presented as “missing persons” during protests have now been identified as terrorists of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a terrorist group involved in attacks on security forces and civilians.

A video has surfaced featuring the sister of BLA terrorists killed in a clash with the Pakistan Army in Turbat. In the video, she claims that the military has taken possession of the bodies and is refusing to hand them over to the families.

She says in the video, “When they were alive, they fought you. Now they are dead, and you’re fighting their bodies.”

Security forces had conducted an operation in Turbat a day earlier. They killed three militants in the clash. Among them were Nabeel, Umar Zakaullah, and Feroz Baloch — the brothers of the woman seen in the video.

The same woman had recently appeared in protests alongside activist Mahrang Baloch. She claimed her brothers were forcibly disappeared. She took part in organised demonstrations against alleged enforced disappearances.

But now, she has admitted that her brothers were engaged in armed conflict. Their bodies were recovered from the battlefield. This revelation raises serious questions about the credibility of many such claims about missing persons.

Critics say that using false narratives in the name of missing persons to target state institutions. They argue that such cases must be called out for what they are — staged propaganda.
