Trump wants comprehensive Iran deal, not small one: JD Vance

JD Vance to Lead Delegation in Islamabad Talks: White House

GEORGIA: US Vice President JD Vance has stated that negotiations with Iran are ongoing and that President Donald Trump seeks a comprehensive deal, not a limited agreement. He added that Iranian negotiators also appear willing to reach a deal.

Speaking at an event at the University of Georgia and responding to questions afterward, Vance noted that such high-level US-Iran negotiations have not taken place in 49 years. He acknowledged that the deep mistrust between the two countries cannot be overcome overnight.

“The Iranians know that President Trump sent me in good faith,” Vance said. He explained that President Trump does not want a small deal, which is why no agreement has been reached with Iran so far. According to Vance, any final deal must ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons and does not engage in state terrorism.

Vance further stated that President Trump wants the Iran deal to be great for America and for everyone in the world. “The deal should be such that the Iranian people can become part of the global economy,” he added. “I feel better about the position we are in during the negotiations with Iran.”

The Vice President also confirmed that a ceasefire with Iran is currently in place. Recalling his earlier remarks made during a visit to Pakistan, Vance said, “I had said in Pakistan that a lot of progress has been made, but a comprehensive deal could not be made.”

His comments signal continued diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran, with the US pushing for a broad agreement addressing nuclear ambitions and regiona

l conduct.
