Trump vows to ‘solve’ Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions after Middle East trip

Trump Vows to 'Solve' Pakistan-Afghanistan Conflict After Middle East Trip

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has declared he will turn his attention to the border conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following the implementation of a ceasefire in Gaza. Speaking to reporters while en route to Israel, Trump characterized himself as an expert in ending wars and stated he would address the situation upon his return .

“This will be my eighth war that I have solved,” President Trump said, referring to the Israel-Hamas truce. “And I hear there is a war now going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said, I’ll have to wait till I get back. I am doing another one because I am good at solving wars” .

He pointed to other conflicts he claims to have resolved, including between India and Pakistan. Trump stated that he settled the India-Pakistan dispute “within a day” by threatening both nations with significant tariffs . However, the Indian government has consistently rejected the notion of U.S. mediation, maintaining the ceasefire was a result of direct bilateral talks .

The President also mentioned the Nobel Peace Prize, stating his actions were motivated by saving lives rather than winning awards. “It’s an honour to do it. I save millions of lives,” he said. “But I did not do this for the Nobel. I did this for saving lives” .

His comments come amid serious border clashes. Recent reports indicate that dozens of fighters were killed in overnight clashes, described as the most serious fighting since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul.
