WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has advised Israel to be cautious in its approach towards Qatar, which he described as a key American ally.
Speaking to reporters, President Trump praised Qatar, calling it a “great ally” and highlighting his strong personal relationship with the country’s leader. “I have a special relationship with Qatar,” Trump said. “The Emir of Qatar is a great leader.”
The comments came in response to a question about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent criticisms and actions targeting Qatar.
President Trump’s message to Israel was clear: “Israel has to be very careful in this regard.” While he reiterated that Israel “has to do something about Hamas,” he firmly emphasized that Qatar is a “good ally of the US,” a fact he suggested many people are not aware of.
