Trump thanks PM Shehbaz, ‘My Favourite’ Asim Munir for role in Gaza peace deal

EGYPT: The United States President Donald Trump shown a gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and ‘’my favourite’’ Field Marshal Asim Munir for their contributions toward achieving peace in Gaza.

The statements cam during a ceremony indicating the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt.

In this regard, President Trump commended joint diplomatic efforts that led to an end to two years of devastating conflict in the Palestinian enclave.

He later invite PM Shehbaz to deliver a special address during the ceremony.

Shehbaz had taken the podium, Prime Minister thanked President Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for their ‘’tireless efforts’’ in securing peace, he called it ‘’one of the greatest days in contemporary history,’’ Shehbaz praised Trump’s ‘’relentless pursuit of peace and prosperity.’’

Furthermore, the premier announced that his government had nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in mediating peace between India and Pakistan, and now in the Middle East.

“He is the most genuine and wonderful candidate for the peace prize,” Shehbaz said, describing Trump as “a man this world needed the most at this point in time.”

Moreover, Shehbaz also thanked the Qatari emir, along with Turkish, Saudi, and Emirati leaders, for their efforts in supporting the peace process.

He had retaken the podium, President Trump quipped, “Wow! I didn’t expect that. Let’s go home, there’s nothing more I have to say. That was really beautiful.”

In addition, PM Shehbaz reasserted Pakistan’s “firm support for the Palestinian people,” calling for sustained global efforts to ensure justice and long-term stability.

The Sharm el-Sheikh Summit brought together leaders from over 20 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, and Indonesia.
