WEB DESK: US President Donald Trump amplified Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s offer to host negotiations aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East, sharing the proposal on his Truth Social platform.
In a post on the social media site, Prime Minister Sharif stated that Pakistan stands “fully ready” to facilitate talks between the United States and Iran, contingent on the consent of both nations. He described the potential role as a proud honor for Pakistan.
“Pakistan fully supports the ongoing talks for peace and stability in the region and globally and is ready to host meaningful and fruitful talks,” Prime Minister Sharif said in his statement.
In his message, the Prime Minister directly tagged President Trump, US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, signaling a proactive push for diplomatic engagement. President Trump subsequently shared the Pakistani leader’s remarks with his followers on Truth Social.
The development follows a measured response from Pakistan’s Foreign Office, which had earlier urged media outlets to avoid speculation and await official announcements regarding any potential mediation efforts.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi reiterated the country’s longstanding position, noting that Pakistan has consistently been prepared to support diplomatic and negotiation efforts aimed at securing peace and stability in the region.
