Trump Pauses Strikes on Iran’s Energy Sites for 10 Days

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump said the United States has paused strikes on Iran’s energy facilities for 10 days, citing a request from Tehran.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said operations targeting energy plants would remain suspended until Monday, April 6, 2026.

He said ongoing talks with Iran were progressing in a “very good” direction. “Contrary to fake news, negotiations are going very well,” he added.

Speaking later on Fox News’ program The Five, Trump said Iran had initially asked for a seven-day pause, but Washington granted 10 days.

However, The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran denied requesting any pause in attacks on its energy infrastructure. The report added that Tehran has not yet given a final response to a proposed 15-point plan aimed at ending the conflict.

Trump has shifted his tone on Iran in the past. In a recent interview, he claimed the United States had “already won” the war in some respects. He also warned that Iran would face continued strikes if it does not agree to a deal.

Analysts say the 10-day pause could open space for de-escalation and diplomacy. However, conflicting statements from Washington and Tehran continue to complicate the situation.
