Washington: President Donald J. Trump has announced that the United States Navy will immediately begin blockading the Strait of Hormuz.
In a detailed statement on Truth Social, President Trump said that following the failure of recent talks in Islamabad, where the nuclear issue remained unresolved, the US will start blocking all ships attempting to enter or leave the Strait. He further instructed the Navy to intercept vessels that paid tolls to Iran in international waters and to destroy Iranian-laid mines in the area.
President Trump warned that any Iranian who fires at US forces or peaceful vessels will face severe consequences.
He described Iran’s actions as world extortion and stated that the blockade will begin shortly, with participation from other countries.
