local firm signs deal to assemble Belarus tractors in Balochistan

Karachi: The subsidiary of Thatta Cement Company Limited (THCCL), Minsk Work Tractor and Assembling Limited (MWTA), will assemble and locally manufacture Belarus tractors in Balochistan.

According to a report, THCCL announced in a stock filing on Monday that it has entered into an exclusive agreement with the Belarusian company OJSC Tractor Works.

The partnership aims to promote industrial growth, create employment opportunities, and support technology transfer in Pakistan’s largest province.

The company described this collaboration as a major strategic advancement for its subsidiary, expected to positively impact the long-term growth and diversification of the Thatta Cement Group’s business portfolio.

This agreement holds significant potential for economic and industrial development in Balochistan.

By establishing a tractor assembly and manufacturing facility, it will strengthen Pakistan’s agricultural machinery sector and reduce reliance on imports.

The project will generate employment for skilled and unskilled workers, enhance local technical expertise, and encourage investment in related industries such as engineering, metal fabrication, and logistics.

Furthermore, the collaboration with Belarus’s OJSC Tractor Works brings advanced technology and expertise to Pakistan, enabling knowledge transfer and boosting the province’s industrial base.

In the long term, this venture could transform Balochistan into a hub for agricultural equipment manufacturing, contributing to national productivity and sustainable economic growth.

The improvement of agricultural infrastructure in Balochistan is vital for enhancing productivity and ensuring sustainable growth.

The province’s vast arable land and diverse climate offer great potential, but progress has been hindered by limited irrigation systems, outdated farming methods, and poor connectivity.

Recent government initiatives and private investments aim to modernize irrigation networks, improve water management, and introduce advanced agricultural machinery.

Projects promoting solar-powered tube wells, cold storage facilities, and farm-to-market roads are helping farmers access markets efficiently.

Strengthening research, training, and technology transfer can further uplift the sector, empowering local farmers and boosting Balochistan’s agricultural economy.
