Toyota Slashes Prices by Rs 2.5 Million to Mark 35 Years in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: To celebrate 35 years in Pakistan, Toyota has reduced the prices of its Fortuner G and V models by as much as Rs 2.5 million.

The massive drop is a mix of tax relief and a special anniversary discount. If you’ve been eyeing a Fortuner, now might be the time!
Sunil Munj, founder and chief executive of Pakistan’s leading automotive marketplace PakWheels, has explained the reasons behind a sharp price cut of up to Rs2.5 million on Toyota vehicles, a move that has sparked widespread debate across the country’s auto industry.

Speaking on a podcast, Munj said the reduction was driven partly by government-led tax relief, which accounted for roughly Rs1.5 million of the price drop, while Toyota absorbed the remaining Rs1 million by reducing its own profit margins.

“The Rs2.5 million cut in Toyota’s prices is being discussed everywhere and is being seen as an extraordinary development in Pakistan’s auto sector,” Munj said.

The comments come after Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) announced a significant price reduction on its popular off-road sports utility vehicle, the Toyota Fortuner, to mark the company’s 35th anniversary in Pakistan. Industry observers describe the move as the largest single price cut by a major automaker in recent years.

Following the reduction, the price of the Toyota Fortuner G has been set at Rs12.435 million, down by Rs2.5 million from its previous level. Similarly, the Toyota Fortuner V has seen a price cut of Rs2.57 million, bringing its new price to Rs14.935 million.

Analysts say the unprecedented reduction reflects easing cost pressures, improved macroeconomic indicators, and intensifying competition in Pakistan’s auto market, raising expectations that other manufacturers may follow suit in the coming months.
