Three women drown in dam in Ziarat, two rescued

Quetta: In a tragic incident in the Ziarat district of Balochistan, three women drowned in a dam located in the Killi Zazghi area.

Two of them were rescued alive, while the search continues for the third woman.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the rescued women were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment, and a rescue operation is underway to locate the missing woman.

In a separate heartbreaking incident earlier, four women from the same family — three sisters and their niece — lost their lives after being swept away by a flash flood in Zhob, Balochistan. The family had traveled to the area for a picnic when their vehicle was caught in a powerful flood current.

The tragedy claimed four lives, while two individuals were rescued.

The funerals of the deceased women were held in their hometown, where a wave of sorrow gripped the entire community.

Mourners, overwhelmed with grief, gathered in large numbers to attend the funeral prayers.

Flood incidents in Balochistan over the past decade have been both frequent and devastating, often causing widespread destruction and significant loss of life.

The province’s mountainous terrain and underdeveloped infrastructure make it particularly vulnerable to flash floods during the monsoon season.
