HANGU: The three police officials, including Station House Officer (SHO) Imranuddin, were injured when a police convoy was targeted by an improvised explosive device (IED).
The convoy was returning from a peace committee meeting when it came under attack. Senior officers, including Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Abdul Samad, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tall Mujahid, and SHO Imranuddin, were travelling in the convoy at the time of the incident.
In this regard, an exchange of fire erupted between the police personnel and unidentified assailants.
The gun battle continued for some time. The SHO Imranuddin and two other police officials sustained injuries during the confrontation and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Furthermore, the SP Abdul Samad told reporters that the attack was carried out using an IED planted along the convoy’s route.
He said security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
Moreover, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi took notice of the incident and directed the Inspector General of Police to submit a detailed report.
The chief minister also instructed the authorities to ensure immediate and proper medical care for the injured officers.
The Chief Minister’s Office, Afridi condemned the attack and lauded the courage and dedication of the police personnel performing their duties in challenging circumstances.
A week ago, same incident was happened in Hangu in combat operation where the renowned Superintendent of Police Operations martyred in unfortunate incident.
He reasserted his government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and maintaining peace across the province.
The incident mentions ongoing security challenges in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where law enforcement agencies continue to face militant threats despite efforts to maintain stability.
