LAHORE: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has issued a warning about the recent resurgence of terrorism in the country, hinting at Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) behind the violence. Tarar said the attacks targeting civilians in places of worship are a deliberate attempt to spread fear and destabilize the nation.
“I have come here to express solidarity. Those responsible for the tragic incident in Islamabad cannot even be called human; it is an insult to humanity,” he said, focusing on the brutality of the attacks.
In this sense, Tarar mentioned that the terrorists specifically targeted people engaged in religious worship, noting that such attackers “have no religion.” He assured the public that the state is fully committed to securing all mosques, imambargahs, and religious centers, promising that the government will root out terrorism entirely.
The minister also linked the resurgence of violence to past political decisions. So far, the recalling previous counter-terrorism operations such as Radd-ul-Fasaad and Zarb-e-Azb, he noted that suicide attacks had ended, and law and order, including in Karachi, had stabilized.
However, he suggested that subsequent policies of negotiating with militants and settling them in designated areas allowed extremist ideologies to resurface.
“This same mindset, reminiscent of Taliban Khan’s approach, is what we are paying the price for today,” he said. Tarar directly implicated the opposition party, stating, “The return of terrorism has roots in the policies of PTI.”
Moreover, the minister further explained that terrorists now avoid heavily guarded targets and focus on softer, more vulnerable locations in remote or suburban areas. He assured that security agencies remain on high alert and are intensifying measures to track and eliminate terrorist networks. Tarar also confirmed progress in investigating the Islamabad attack, promising that facilitators will face justice.
