ISLAMABAD: Recent developments under Operation Sindoor have sparked serious controversy, with critics describing the latest security sweep in Kashmir as an extension of state control rather than a genuine counter-terrorism measure.
The operation, which reportedly involved raids on multiple houses, arrests, and alleged recovery of weapons, has drawn allegations of staged narratives and political motives.
Observers argue that such actions serve to reinforce a broader pattern of suppression following the revocation of Article 370 and the introduction of new laws seen as altering Kashmir’s demographic and political identity.
Human rights groups continue to express concern over the use of AFSPA and PSA, which grant sweeping powers to security forces and allow prolonged detention without trial.
Calls are growing for independent investigations into the operation and for the release of detained journalists and political figures.
Analysts say these measures are necessary to ensure transparency, accountability, and protection of fundamental rights in the region.
It is worth mentioning that India baselessly alleged Pakistan for plotting and carrying out the Pahalgam incident and made a hostile and provocative stance against Pakistan.
On the other hands, Pakistan denied India’s allegation and offered a credible and neutral investigation of the Pahalgam incident.
However, India launched missile and drone attacks in the Pakistani territory in which some 40 innocent people were killed.
Pakistan responded in a decisive way and downed India’s 7 aircrafts including 3 Rafales.
Moreover, Pakistan also destroyed India’s missile storage depot in Udhampur which caused massive lost to India and the Indian government rushed to call the US officials seeking for ceasefire.
An interesting and an ironic aspect is that none of the figures allegedly involved in the plot and the facilitation of the Pahalgam incident has been captured so far.
Nor the Modi government looked to concerned over the militant-attacks once the ‘Operation Sindoor Drama amid the Behar Election’ was over.
