Police repel terrorist attack on checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan

D I KHAN: Police in Dera Ismail Khan repelled a terrorist attack on a checkpost late Tuesday night, forcing the assailants to flee after an exchange of fire, officials said.

District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Ahmad Khan said militants opened fire with sniper rifles and other weapons at the Aba Shaheed checkpost. Police teams retaliated “with full force,” he added, driving the attackers away without any loss of life or property.

The DPO praised the officers for their bravery and quick response, saying the policemen “fought courageously and forced the terrorists to retreat.”

After the attack, Quick Response Force (QRF), Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and other police units cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.

No casualties or material damage were reported, police confirmed.
