ISLAMABAD : In a significant diplomatic development, Iranian and American delegations have successfully advanced to a text exchange phase following in-person expert talks in Islamabad, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency. The shift to drafting a common framework marks tangible progress in the negotiation process, signaling both sides’ continued commitment to dialogue.
“The two sides had advanced to the text exchange stage to reach a common framework for the negotiations,” a Tasnim correspondent reported from Islamabad. Iranian officials describe this as a constructive step forward, demonstrating Tehran’s willingness to engage seriously while safeguarding national interests.
However, the American team has reportedly introduced excessive demands that have slowed momentum. “The American delegation has hindered the progress of the process with its usual excessive demands,” the report noted. Consultations remain ongoing, with Iran holding firm on preserving its military achievements and ensuring the rights of the Iranian people are fully protected.
A major point of contention remains the strategic Strait of Hormuz, where serious disagreements persist. Despite these hurdles, Iranian negotiators emphasize that all discussions are conducted from a position of strength and principle, aiming for an outcome that respects Iran’s redlines.
