ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that the internet shutdown in Balochistan was done due to security concerns, no one is interested in suspending services.
While responding to a call-to-attention notice in the Senate meeting on Friday, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs said that the order to temporarily shut down the internet from August 6 to 31 was issued on the basis of security concerns. However, air, rail and land transportation are continuing in the province.

Chaudhry further said that such steps are taken in areas with terrorism concerns to improve the law and order situation. He assured that the net packages purchased during the days when the internet was shut down will remain safe and will be transferred next month.
