ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vigorously advocated for the Palestinian cause during the Gaza Board of Peace meeting in Washington, earning Pakistan significant international recognition .
Speaking to the media, Tarar highlighted that US President Donald Trump appreciated Pakistan’s role and specifically praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir during the inaugural session. “It is a matter of pride that President Trump commended the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal,” Tarar said, adding that the meeting between the two leaders was held in a cordial atmosphere .
The Information Minister emphasized that Pakistan has emerged as an important country on the global stage, attributing this to the success of the country’s foreign policy. “Earlier Pakistan was isolated, now it is emerging as an important player in every global issue,” he remarked .
Tarar stressed that the Prime Minister strongly presented the case for Palestinians, asserting that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is essential for lasting peace. He noted that when leadership is honest, the results are always positive .
During the Board of Peace meeting, Trump had praised Pakistan’s civil and military leadership, calling Field Marshal Munir “a great general” and “a strong man,” while describing Prime Minister Shehbaz as “a good and excellent friend” . Trump credited both leaders with helping avert a full-scale war between Pakistan and India, potentially saving millions of lives .
The recognition came as Pakistan participated alongside other nations in the multilateral forum aimed at promoting conflict resolution and establishing lasting peace in Gaza .
