Minister neither confirms nor denies Imran Khan hospital reports

Talal Chaudhry Urges Caution Over Rumors of Imran Khan's Hospital Visit

ISLAMABAD: Amid swirling rumors, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has declined to confirm or deny reports that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan was recently taken to a hospital from Adiala Jail.

Speaking on Geo News’ program Aaj with Shahzeb Khanzada, Chaudhry urged against sensationalism, stating, “Instead of sensationalizing the matter, we should wait and see whether the government will confirm or deny it.” He argued that if the news were true, it would confirm that the jailed PTI leader is receiving necessary medical attention.

The minister’s comments come a day after PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan referenced the same reports, expressing concern. “There was news that Imran Khan was brought to the hospital and then taken to jail, it is not being said for what disease he was brought,” Gohar stated, highlighting a lack of official communication regarding the former premier’s health.

Dismissing broader concerns about Imran Khan’s well-being, Chaudhry asserted that the PTI founder is being provided with superior facilities compared to other prisoners and labeled rumors about his health as baseless. He also criticized the PTI’s activities, claiming the party has “no other work left except to set up a theater outside Adiala Jail,” and suggested jail authorities are unlikely to permit further meetings.

The lack of official confirmation from the government has fueled speculation and anxiety among PTI supporters, creating an information vacuum around the health of the country’s most prominent incarcerated political figure.
