We cannot accept demands of Balochistan protestors: Talal

Islamabad: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry stated that people from Balochistan are protesting in Islamabad but are unwilling to hold talks with the government.

He made it clear that their demands cannot be accepted, and no one will be allowed to pursue political agendas under the guise of protest.

The issue of terrorism sparked strong protests in the National Assembly.

Addressing the session, Barrister Gohar said that in Buner, 236 of their people have lost their lives, yet the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has failed to extend the support that was required.

He added that his party remains deeply disappointed with NDMA’s response, and complained that their members are constantly being de-notified.

In protest against the government’s attitude, they decided to boycott the assembly session.

In response, the Speaker of the National Assembly remarked that such complaints outside the House would only lead to claims of being silenced.

He defended NDMA’s work, stating that when he personally visited the authority, he specifically inquired about relief operations in Buner.

He further assured that if members wished to visit NDMA, arrangements could be made.=

Ayaz Sadiq urged unity, stressing that Pakistan is facing national issues such as devastating floods.

He said the focus should remain on flood-related discussions, and it would be unfortunate if members chose to point out the quorum in such circumstances.

He criticized PTI, saying the party had no concern for national problems and issues.

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that raising such questions was nothing more than “politics for the sake of politics.”

He said the Constitution and law recognize only one assembly, and PTI’s leader will only be able to return through judicial verdicts.

He reminded PTI lawmakers that they were elected by flood-affected people and should sit in the assembly to speak for them.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry reiterated that the government would show no leniency if political motives were sought through protests.

He confirmed that Baloch protesters were gathered outside the press club in Islamabad.

According to him, the government had attempted to engage with them through various means, including human rights leaders, but the protesters refused dialogue.

He explained that the deadlock persisted because the protesters’ demands were such that the government could not fulfill them, with some of the matters already pending before courts.
