Pakistan Air Force Successfully Test-Fires Taimoor Cruise Missile

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully test-fired its indigenously developed air-launched cruise missile, Taimoor, marking a major milestone in the country’s aerospace and defense capabilities, the military said on Saturday.

The Taimoor missile is capable of striking both land and sea targets with high precision. It has a range of 600 kilometers and carries a conventional warhead. Equipped with advanced navigation and guidance systems, it can fly at very low altitudes, enabling it to evade enemy air and missile defense systems effectively.

The test follows a period of heightened military tensions with India, during which both nuclear-armed neighbors exchanged missile and artillery fire, along with drone and fighter jet deployments.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) highlighted that the missile’s precision-strike capability enhances Pakistan’s conventional deterrence and operational flexibility. “The successful flight test underscores the technical maturity, innovation, and self-reliance achieved by Pakistan’s defense industry,” the military’s media wing added.

Senior military officials, along with the scientists and engineers involved in its development, witnessed the launch. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu congratulated the team, praising their dedication and professionalism. He emphasized that such achievements demonstrate Pakistan’s commitment to technological self-sufficiency and a credible conventional deterrent amid evolving regional security challenges.

This development is part of Pakistan’s broader focus on strengthening battle readiness. On Dec. 15, the Pakistan Navy successfully test-fired a surface-to-air missile in the northern Arabian Sea. Earlier, Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir visited frontline garrisons in Gujranwala and Sialkot to observe tank and drone exercises, stressing that modern warfare demands agility, precision, situational awareness, and rapid decision-making.
