T20 World Cup: Will the Pakistani team go to the World Cup or not? Mohsin Naqvi's important statement has come to light

LAHORE: The future of Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup remains uncertain, as a crucial decision now rests with the Government of Pakistan, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has mentioned.

In this regard, Naqvi clarified that the PCB will move forward only after receiving clear directions from the federal government. He focused on that while the International Cricket Council (ICC) oversees global cricket, the PCB operates under the authority of the Government of Pakistan and must act in line with national policy.

In such a case, a final decision regarding Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup is pending due to the Prime Minister’s absence from the country. He noted that consultations at the highest level are essential before any formal announcement can be made. Until then, the PCB is waiting for the government to outline its position.

However, behind the scenes, preparations are already in place.

Naqvi revealed that the PCB has developed multiple contingency strategies, referred to as Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C, which will be activated once the government’s stance becomes clear. He refrained from sharing details of these plans, stating that it would be premature to do so at this stage.

The PCB chairman also raised concerns over what he described as unequal treatment within international cricket. He specifically pointed to Bangladesh, saying the country is being treated unfairly in the current scenario.

Meanwhile, Naqvi stressed that Bangladesh is a full and equal member of the ICC and deserves the same considerations extended to other nations. He added that if any flexibility or special arrangement is made for one country, similar provisions should apply to all member nations, without discrimination.

Despite the strong remarks, Naqvi maintained a cautious tone, saying that the PCB would respect whatever decision the government ultimately makes and shape its future course accordingly.
