COLOMBO: Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first in the must-win match against Namibia in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup, hosted by Sri Lanka.
Pakistan needs to defeat Namibia in its last group-stage match to qualify for the Super 8 stage.
National team captain Salman Ali Agha said the team made two key changes for the match. Salman Mirza and Khawaja Nafees have been included in the playing XI, while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed will sit out.
He added that Pakistan will aim to set a competitive total for Namibia. “Every World Cup match is important. We are not under pressure,” he said.
Today’s match is crucial for both teams, as it will determine qualification for the Super 8 stage. Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat against their traditional rivals in the previous match, which affected team morale.

A win against Namibia will secure Pakistan’s place in the Super 8. Even if the match is washed out due to rain, the team will advance with one point. However, a loss would eliminate Pakistan in the first round of an ICC event for the third consecutive time.
