LAHORE: A decision on the Pakistan–India match at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is expected on February 12, sources said.
Indian media reported that the International Cricket Council (ICC) had given Pakistan a February 9 deadline.
Sources said no breakthrough was expected on Monday. The decision is likely to be announced on February 12.
Separately, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is expected to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif later on Monday. A briefing on talks held a day earlier is expected to be given. Guidance on the next course of action is also expected.
Sources said the final decision on playing the match will be taken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
On Sunday, talks were held between the ICC, the PCB, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup and a potential boycott of the match against India. The Pakistan–India fixture and the broader regional cricket situation were discussed in detail.
An ICC delegation arrived in Lahore on Sunday to convey a request for Pakistan to play India. The delegation met PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Earlier, the PCB had decided to participate in the T20 World Cup but not play India, following directives from the government of Pakistan.
