SHARJAH: In a thrilling finish, the Afghanistan cricket team narrowly defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by just 4 runs in the UAE T20I Triangular Series on Wednesday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Afghanistan set a strong target. They scored 170 runs in their 20 overs. Their captain, Ibrahim Zadran, was the top scorer with 48 runs, and opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz supported him well with 40 runs. A quick 28-run innings from Karim Janat helped push the total higher. For the UAE, Haider Ali was the most successful bowler, taking two wickets.

In response, the UAE batters fought hard but fell just short. They finished their 20 overs at 166 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Their captain, Muhammad Wasim, led the charge with a powerful 44 runs, and Asif Khan contributed 40 runs. However, they couldn’t score the required runs in the final tense overs.

The Afghan bowlers worked together to secure the win, with five different players—Sharafuddin Ashraf, Noor Ahmad, Abdullah Ahmadzai, Mujeeb ur Rehman, and Farid Ahmad—each taking one wicket.

With this exciting victory, Afghanistan has strengthened its position in the triangular series. The upcoming matches are now extremely important for the UAE team to stay in contention for the title.
